For three years artists Fiona Reilly and Deborah Madden have been having conversations surrounding the hidden economics of art making.

What do we mean by this? We are not sure.

Art work is borne spotlessly into the world. All traces of labour and systematic hostility are washed out.

We have questions about art and how it gets made.

Questions circulate around invisible, immaterial and unacknowledged labour. Class, access and the difficulties of making art under the particular conditions of the current moment.

We want to think and talk about this in the open with other people.

On the 5th of November we are hosting an event;
Something Has to Happen and That’s an External Reality We Have to Deal With, a public conversation on Thinking, Doing, Managing, Making at Pearse St library from 11.00am - 1.00pm

We want to offer people a way to think together.

We will be joined by Dr. Sinead Pembroke, Sociologist, Siobhan Geoghan, Director, Common Ground, Emilie Conway from DADA: Disabled Artists and Disabled Academics. Tom O’Brien, Architect
and Doireann Ní Ghríoghair, Former Artist who will talk about their perspectives on these issues.

We invite you to be part of the conversation.
